The well-known company MJ Tecnology, the company that was working on the tablet project with Ubuntu has announced the development of a tablet with OpenSUSE installed.

This tablet it will have similar characteristics to the tablet with Ubuntu, with a mini version and a larger version of it.

Among these hardware features, we have an Intel Atom x5 Quad Core at 2 Ghz for the mini version and an Intel Atom x7 Quad Core at 2,5 Ghz for the large version(Katana). As for the Ram, we have 2 Gb of Ram in the small version and 4 Gb of ram in the Katana version.

As for the camera, we have 13 megapixel rear camera and 8 megapixel front camera in the katana version and 8 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera in the mini version. Both will have a Full HD screen, with 9 inches in the Mini version and 10 inches in the Katana version.

As well we have 64 Gigs of internal memory in the Mini version and to choose between 128 Gigas EMMC and 256 GB SSD in the Katana version, some features that are undoubtedly novel. The battery is 7500 milliamps in the Mini version and 8500 milliamps in the Katana version.

The tablet has the OpenSUSE operating system, a fully converged operating system, being able to install the same thing that you can install on a desktop computer, that is, a full desktop with window navigation and all OpenSUSE-compatible programs, including its official repositories.

Regarding the price, the starting price for the most basic version is about $ 399 for the 128 Gig version and $ 450 for the SSD version, both in the Katana version. The price of the Mini version is unknown, but it is believed that it will be priced between $ 200 and $ 300.

Yet tablet purchase is not available, as there is still much to do, however, There is already information on the official website of the project.

As for the old Ubuntu tablet that was being developed, it seems that the project has been canceled, since in the end the project was too ambitious. Hopefully with OpenSUSE this does not happen and comes to light.
