Twitter is no longer an independent company

Twitter Inc ceased to be an independent company

Elon Musk entered Twitter with the subtlety of an elephant in a glass shop, fired half the world, changed the ways of working and turned things that were previously free into pay. Now Twitter is no longer an independent company.

To buy Twitter, Musk created a company called X Corporation offering the employees of the former company the little bird.  A subsequent court filing reported that Twitter Inc no longer exists passing all its rights and obligations to X Corporation.

Why is Twitter no longer an independent company?

I've spent years complaining about Mark Shuttleworth's constant reversals, but Elon Musk has left his fellow South African founder of Ubuntu as an example of constancy. Although no one knows what it intends, there is speculation that it will launch an all-in-one application that combines the ability to make payments, make purchases, share and consume content, and send messages. However, others maintain that it is only an organizational matter that seeks to put all its companies under the umbrella of the same corporation.

Musk's response consisted of a one-letter tweet, the X.

An indication that Musk is planning something is the recent blockade of Substack, a content creation and distribution platform that recently incorporated the microblogging modality. When users of that platform complained, they were suggested to post their articles on Twitter. The platform has been promising a monetization solution for creators for some time.

In addition to user resistance to change, Musk faces another challenge. The US government is determined to put an end to the antitrust practices and little protection to the privacy of big technology companies. The creator of Tesla is at the political antipodes of the Biden administration, so he could be a good candidate to set an example.

It is not the first time that Musk wants to change the name of a brand recognized by the letter X, he wanted to do it when his X Bank merged with Paypal and lost the vote. He now he took the precaution of being the only one who votes.

In principle, Musk's move makes sense since the social media market is saturated. Google with all its might tried to enter several times failing every time and established players fail to make a profit. Musk's moves to charge for features that were once free will only cover a fraction of the debt he incurred.

Jack Dorsey, the creator of Twitter, came to the conclusion that as a company it was unviable and that it should have become the basis for other services. He is now working on a blockchain-based messaging service.

A conspiracy theory about Musk's plans

This is the end of the serious part of the article., put on your tin hat to prevent the CIA from picking up your brain waves and read on at your peril.

One David Troy, a self-described freelance investigative journalist, supports that Musk and other investors on Twitter such as Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Qatar and Dorsey himself they plan to use the influence of the social network to lower the dollar and replace it with cryptocurrencies.

In the best style of Goebbels, Troy tries to justify his theory by combining two events that have nothing to do with each other.. Without this being the case, he throws in Vladimir Putin, the invasion of Ukraine and the president's desire to create a new world order led by the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) with the position of Musk and some of his former and current partners in favor of replacing paper banknotes with a currency independent of financial and political interests.

Curiously, he missed the fact that Musk is South African.

Marketing decision, corporate reorganization or conspiracy? I think that he Mr. Troy's real problem with Musk is found in this paragraph.

As Putin condemns multiple genders and homosexuality, Musk calls on advertisers to reject "political correctness" in favor of "freedom of expression". While democracy tends to flatten societies and equalize opportunities for all, autocracy tends to emphasize hierarchy and wealth. Musk, as the world's richest man, has come to believe that he embodies the top of that hierarchy, and seems to try to impose it on others.

However, something must be said in favor of the man. Finally a conspiracy theory that has the originality of not including Soros and Bill Gates.
