MAUI: what is this interesting project?

MAUI logo

MAUI is a new word That may not sound familiar to you (or maybe if you know the Nitrux project), but it should. It is an interesting project that rescues the "forgotten" convergence that Canonical acclaimed so much and that finally did not come. But, in addition to that, MAUI goes a step beyond a simple convergence, at least as it was understood until now.

This MAUI Project aims to drive the creation of converged applications based on KDE technology, that is, with Qt libraries. Be part of Nitrox or NXOS, the famous Ubuntu-based distro that uses the NX Desktop desktop environment, also based on Plasma 5.

They have been developing apps with a very attractive visual aspect for some time (like the visual aspect of the GUIs that you find in Plasma) and that are convergent. In this way, it is intended to cover a large number of devices and platforms, both mobile devices and PCs. And that doesn't just include Android and GNU / Linux as you might think, also Microsoft Windows, iOS and macOS.

That would be great, offering sync across all devices, regardless of type, so that a user can use them where they need to. At the moment, it is in an early development phase, but you can already try some of its advances. And the truth, although they have a long way to go, they are already promising.

Still have some flaws to polishFor example, not all operating systems offer the same freedoms. The case of iOS limits the file system quite a bit, which makes them not work quite well. With each new version and release, developers add improvements that help to deal with these difficulties and make them more usable and better.

Can you imagine what a 100% functional project like this would mean? That would mean a huge impact that would change many things in the current software landscape ...
