Google has released the June 2019 Android Patch Security for Android. It has already started to be available for all supported Pixels, as well as some other devices from other manufacturers. The most remarkable thing about this version, how could it be otherwise, is that security flaws have been corrected, 22 in total, which have been discovered by different security researchers in the Android operating system, its framework, kernel, Qualcomm components, including those that are not open-source, and the Multimedia Framework, which was affected by a critical security flaw.
At Lóleo Eventos, release note we can read that the most serious of the bugs fixed is that of the multimedia framework, which could allow a remote attacker to use a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code in the context of a privileged process. The severity concerned is based on the effect that exploiting the vulnerability could have on an affected device.
This month's security patch fixes at least one critical flaw
On the other hand, this month's security patch for Google's mobile operating system also fixes several problems on some Pixel devices, such as the following:
- Fixes a bootloader issue on Pixel 2 devices causing them to freeze during startup.
- Fixes an issue with the camera on Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL phones that causes the camera to hang during video recording.
- Fixes a bug that causes the Netflix app to hang on Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.
- Improves the accuracy of "Ok Google" on the Pixel 2, Pixel 2XL and Pixel 3XL.
