I hate, all the web radio you could want in one app

Hate

If I told you that I am a big fan of listening to the radio, I would be lying to you. Personally, I don't like others "telling me" what to listen to and when. I like Metal, and I don't enjoy all metal at any time. For that reason I usually create lists for myself, but those lists are always the same even if I randomize them. What is the best option to listen to what I like and that is not repetitive? Just what I don't like: a radio station. But that station must be what I like and that can be found in Hate.

If I have to be honest, I don't know why they chose that name to call this app. I doubt it has to do with the meaning in Spanish, but at least it will be easy to remember. Hate is an application available for Linux, macOS and Windows that will allow us to listen to thousands of radio stations for free from the same app. And it is a very simple app, so much so that it hardly has any options, this section being limited to choosing between a light or dark theme.

Hate is available in light and dark themes

On the left we have the sections:

  • MyLibrary: each station, when we pass the cursor over it, will show us a heart next to another icon. The heart will allow us to save it in our library, while the other icon will show us the profile of the radio station.
  • Recently Viewed: the stations whose profile we have visited will be saved here.
  • Countries: in this section we can enter the section for each country. Recommended if you know what to listen to, such as football or news, but not if we want to listen to a specific type of music.
  • Languages: in this section we can configure the languages of the stations. Unless we want to listen to a radio talk, I think it is best to leave them all.
  • Tags: Here we will see a (huge) list of labels, such as 80s music, styles and more.
  • Home: the main screen.
  • Settings: the settings from where at the time of writing this post we can only choose the topic.
  • About: information about Hate.
  • Support Hate: to make a donation.
  • Bug report: to report bugs.

In the upper part, a little heeled to the left, a search box with the text «Search stations ...». This search box is the one that really interests us: we can search for any word and it is more than likely that it will find it. If we put the name of a famous group, such as Metallica or Iron Maiden, it is likely that we will even find a radio of those groups in which we only listen to music by that artist. But I think the best thing is to find a style of music.

Available as a snap pack

Hate is available from this link. If I'm not mistaken, I can't find another option, we can install it from a snap package running the command:

sudo snap install odio

What we always have to keep in mind is that we will be listening to a radio, which means that sometimes we will hear advertising or some other type of wedge. This will not be a problem for those who are used to listening to the radio and with Hate we can listen to stations of whatever we want. What do you think of Hate?
