Chinese operators obviously have no time to waste as Huawei Technologies presented the launch of its new phone smart Mate 30, a processor that incorporates a 5G modem, called Kirin 990, which the Chinese manufacturer presents as the first of its kind in the world.

Differences between Kirin 990 (4G) and Kirin 990 5G
The Kirin 990 contains more than 10 billion transistors and it can download data at a theoretical speed of 2.3 gigabits per second.
Huawei opts for a two-version strategy of the Kirin 990. These versions will be officially known as Kirin 990 and Kirin 990 5G.
With the same configuration basic, the same camera support, the same memory, the same storage, both versions are almost identical. However, there are differences, such as the performance of the Neurological Treatment Unit (NPU) and the main frequencies.
Uno One of the key elements of the Kirin 990 5G is its use of TSMC's 7FF + with EUV, allowing you to have a smaller array size.
It is over 100mm2, which is a difference of 74.13mm2 on the Kirin 980 (TSMC 7nm) and 96.72mm2 on the Kirin 970 (TSMC 10nm).
While the 4G version measures about 90mm2 with two billion fewer transistors than the 990 5G kirin. The core configuration in the two processors is identical: two high-frequency A76 cores, two medium-frequency A76 cores, and four more efficient A55 cores.
However, the 990 5G and 990 4G frequencies are slightly different. In addition to the 5G modem implementation, the biggest change in the Kirin 990 will be the neurological processing unit.
Huawei finally did not give many details about the new 5G modem, nor about the 4G design updates. the company refrained from citing figures within a reasonable time. Huawei has a press event in Munich on September 19, where the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro are announced and probably also a 5G model, which could perhaps be the Pro 5G.
