Campo Santo, Firewatch developer joins Valve

Valve It has not neglected the world of video games and the possibility of continuing to release titles, and hopefully also for Linux. They have already reported that they intend to bet heavily on the world of video games on GNU / Linux and that the failure of the Steam Machine will not mean that they will stop developing the SteamOS distro, much less, and will continue to give us joy. Also, now the developer Campo Santo has joined them, the same one that developed Firewatch.

Campo Santo has officially confirmed that the news is true, claiming that the people at Valve share the same values as them and that this pairing will make them both stronger. After long conversations between both parties, they will work together uniting talents to do things they never thought possible separately. This does not appear to affect the existing projects of both studies before the union.

In fact, the last title Campo Santo worked on is called In the Valley of Gods, a title that promises and has not been canceled or anything like that. All the work done by the developer will continue to be done, only now it will be a title that will be distributed under the command of Valve. Therefore, we will have news about it soon, and I hope that we can enjoy it on GNU / Linux like so many other titles.

In my opinion, this kind of mergers are beneficial. Other mergers that we have seen in the past could put certain services at risk or be uncomfortable, but with this one they are simply taking talent to Valve to continue creating titles with a company that has more resources and funding than Campo Santo. Also, Valve always gives good Linux support. It only remains to see if In the Valley of Gods, being now from Valve, is also launched on GOG or only on Steam ...
